From wood to warmth

Works for shed extension started

June 2017

We converted a part of the lawn area into an additional hardcore area to store and season more products. This will also allow us to minimise double-handling.

At the same time the roof is going to be extended on the Huntly side to get more area to store and prepare deliveries and self-collected products.

For the convenience of our self-collecting customers the new extension also allows to turn cars with trailers without reversing.

We hope that the project will be finished by August.

FLS hosted a meeting of Huntly Farmers Discussion Group

May 2017

Approximately 25 intrested members of the group visited LFS. Supported by Dunster Biomass Heating Ltd. who installed the district heating system at Linnorie for 4 houses the participants got an idea of the LFS-operation, wood processing and of state of the art biomass boilers and district heating schemes inclusive RHI.

New projects
March 2017

We are constantly looking for new ideas to increase the product quality, customer convenience and the productivity. For the project "get rid of the mud bath" we did not need any hint. It was simply too obvious! Or which of the two pictures on the left looks less messy?Our self-collecting customers will appreciate.

As mentioned we are going to extend the shed to allow more sheltered area for seasoning products and preparing deliveries. This we hope will be completed well ahead of the winter demand. Full planning permission is granted and we hope to commence building work soon.

Another project was carried out by KNC Groundworks which is now complete and much welcomed by our self-collecting customers and all those whom pop in to make enquiries.

First season - lessons learned
March 2017

We learned a lot in our first season. E.g. about

  • no two customers have the same needs or circumstances regarding storage and access

  • an individuality with the purchasing habits and expectations of log buyers

  • the variance in replenishment of logs during the winter season. We will therefore significantly increase our stocks and extend the storage capacity of the existing shed
We would honestly like to apologise for the inconvenience of all the potential customers whom we were unable to supply

  • the customers valued having a easily accessible firewood service adjacent to other amenities in town for self-collecting logs before heading home to spend a cosy time.

We must be doing some things right, when competitors are copying us!

Prize competition - Congratulations!

August 2016

After a successful morning at the Huntly Square we counted the logs of a 250 kg bag. After 352 logs there was only little waste left. Average weight is 709 g.
The lucky winner of the bag to be collected at Linnorie Park for which you pay at LFS
£ 37.00 / 38.85 incl. VAT is ...
we are waiting for the consent to publish the name.

Ready, steady, go!
The time is right now to let people know who we are and what LFS does and that reservations and orders can be made.
An open day with a very attractive promotion offer and a gift on the day will be held pretty soon.
You can see, how efficient the firewood is produced and what it needs to minimise handling from the wood shed to the boiler house. In the boiler house you can see our biomass installation. For any questions you have about a biomass installation there will be the expertise of our installer.
